Ready, Set, Advocate

The image features a circular design with "READY SET ADVOCATE" in bold colors, alongside a graphic of a megaphone.

Dear Library Advocate, Welcome to the Ready, Set, Advocate module landing page. Below you will find modules to help you begin your advocacy journey. On behalf of the ILA Advocacy Committee, we thank you for your time to share the importance and impact of libraries in your community.

Purpose of the Ready, Set, Advocate Modules

  • These modules are designed as quick reference points for library advocates to better understand what advocacy is and how to implement advocacy efforts at your libraries. Whether you are a long serving library Trustee or a brand new library employee, these modules will serve as a first step along your advocacy journey.

Using the Ready, Set, Advocate Modules

  • We have broken the modules into content groups for ease of use. The “Foundations of Advocacy” serves as a four module introduction to advocacy that we recommend as a starting point.

Module Upkeep and Future Content

  • The Ready, Set, Advocate modules are created and maintained by the ILA Advocacy Committee. The content of the modules is reviewed annually to ensure they remain relevant to the current needs of Illinois libraries. Additional modules will be added on a regular basis. If there is an issue with one of the modules or you would like to suggest an idea for future content, then please contact the ILA Advocacy Committee at ila@ila.org.
